I am a research glaciologist at the Program in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (AOS). I completed my PhD at the University of Chicago Department of Geophysical Sceinces with Professor Doug MacAyeal.
My research is focused on the behavior and interactions of Earth's ice sheets with other components of the climate system. The overarching question that I pursue is: what role do ice sheets play in determining both long-term and short-term aspects of the Earth environment? Specifically, I am interested in defining the fundamental processes that control behavior of ice sheets and their various sub- components (fast-flowing ice streams, floating ice shelves and icebergs), determining how they respond to changes in atmospheric and oceanic circulation, radiative balance and other forms of forcing, and in determining how they both impact change in and record change of other parts of the climate system.
